Austin may be the capitol of Texas and the best known city in Travis County, but many people who move to Austin actually choose to live in an area called West Lake Hills located just minutes from downtown. This village founded in 1953 sits nestled in the Hill Country amid the rolling hills that afford residents the privacy and views that they desire. Today, this city has about the same area and boundaries as it did in 1970. Just four square miles in size, West Lake Hills is unique in so many ways, with its residents interested in preservation of the environment and natural beauty of the areas. Additionally, Eanes Independent School District, a nationally acclaimed system, pulls many of its students from this city and from the surrounding neighborhoods known as The West Bank.
Barton Creek Square, one of Austin’s largest malls, is located here, as is Austin Country Club, The Wild Basin Nature Preserve and beautiful Lake Austin, winding through the hills. Various types of housing are available here—from condominiums on the lake to spacious private estates and everything in between. |
